I have happily discovered that I can ditch my eyeglasses when I take pictures, even though I am very nearsighted in both eyes, with astigmatism in my left eye. I have learned how to do without my specs, because when I wear eyeglasses, I can't see the whole picture in the viewfinder. Take the glasses off, and I have no trouble, although my world view now is slightly fuzzy. Use the focusing scale to approximate the correct focus, tweak it with the split image (surprisingly, I can make two fuzzy images coincide), and use about f/8. Everything is acceptably in focus. Makes life ever so much more simple, and fun!

As I get older, I'm more and more in favor of simplicity and fun.

With best regards to all.

I do the same thing. If focus is critical, I use my glasses. But usually it's easy enough to align two slightly fuzzy images and pay attention to framing.

I'm nearsighted and wear glasses for distance and driving. My near vision is still (knock on wood) perfect. I've found that in most cases I can do RF focusing with or without glasses.

Lucky, I guess. :)
