Getting Giddy

KP, the virtue of the M3 is that it gives new meaning to using a 50mm lens. I'd see to buy it with the Summilux 50 instead. Your Canonet has a slightly wider angle, but not the same viewfinder.

At least, that's the reason I bought mine.

Good find, BTW. See to keep it! 🙂

Well, my used M3 arrived today which is temporarily going to be nicknamed 'The HelLeica' until I come up with something better. It appears to have seen a lot of use in its life, and feels like it is properly broken in. The mint M3 takes a bit of effort to make the shutter release, but with The HelLeica I think I can make the shutter trip just by the pulse flowing through my finger. Shutter is off in the same way as the mint-M3's, though The HelLeica's view finder & rangefinder patch is much much brighter. Which is good, since I figured since the Mint M3's didn't awe me in a way I was hyped to believe, that it must have dimmed some. It just needs its own CLA.

The minty M3 is nice, but this body just feels at home in my hands. Then again, I love things that look like hell, but still perform. I always wanted my Stratocaster to be as war torn as Stevie Ray's when I was a teenager. I think the same part of my brain awoke when it seen this body staring at me like an abandoned puppy. I knew it was for me. Since I paid less the $375 for it, I know I can throw my regular routine at it, and when it gets a new scratch or dent, I won't have to sweat anything since I didn't pay a premium for a cosmetically pure speciman.

It should be leaving for a short vacation at the Ye residence tomorrow to get some R&R before starting its new career.
