Getting published in The Jakarta Post....might need some help...

Hi guys and gals......I am pleased to say that I was contacted by the Jakarta Post earlier this week and they are interested in publishing/printing/buying the "Ice Water Sellers of Yangon" story that I have been working on. I am stoked because this is a story that is close to my heart ( I am a "water guy") and I decided to get to know these ice water sellers and photograph them multiple times over my many visits to Myanmar, and I feel a strong connection to them.

I wrote up a brief story of the sellers and emailed them the 9 photos that they specifically asked for. I have no idea if my photos will be croped or edited or how the layout will look but I am excted to see the final result. I was told that the story will be printed in this Saturday's edition. I am going to go to some international bookstores on Friday here in Bangkok and see if any of them carry the Jakarta Post, if so, I will buy in advance a couple of copies. Jakarta Post has already agreed to send me a copy of the paper, but I would be super happy if for some reason, I can not locate a copy here in Bangkok, that a kind member in Indonesia could purchase a copy and perhaps scan, or shoot a digital photo of the story and email it to me.....................

I know that we have a couple of members here in Indonesia and I just thought that it would be worth asking....thanks in advance.....

and I must say the coolest thing is, is when I go back to Yangon and I show the ice water sellers that their photos are in the newspaper....they will be happy

Have you contacted the newspaper, to request a copy? This would seem to be a pretty humble request, and the least any newspaper would do for a contributor.

Hello Colin, Yes, the newspaper is going to send me a copy but I am sure it will take a couple of days to get to me in Bangkok and I am curious to see how it is laid out and how it looks and I know on Saturday I am going to want to see it.......

Thats a good suggestion about the pdf file, I will ask......as far as getting paid goes, that is already worked out and settled, I am not worried about that......

I am just happy that this story will be seen in Asia.........I originally shot it for an American/European audience.....and of course it feels cool to get my personal work published out here in Asia in a big newspaper....

Cool, I just picked up a copy of today's (Saturday's) Jakarta Post and my photo story is in it.......the only problem is I ordered the newspaper from a local bookstore and they printed it out....so it's not on 'newspaper' material and it's in black and white......I am assuming the 'original' edition is in color.....

I guess I'll have to wait a couple of days to see the 'original' but I am quite happy overall about the article and the layout.....very cool....

Hello reiki......yeah, it does feel pretty cool to get this story published.......I must say, the coolest thing is, they saw my photos somewhere and contacted me about the story....it was a pleasant and total surprise for me to be asked by them to publish this story...........
