Anyone having trouble getting any of the "Rodinal" equivalents online? I've noticed B&H listed them as 'in-store pickup only'
Finally used up my 500ml bottle after two years and looking to get another one. Not sure if something has changed since the last time I ordered them from B&H

Best regards,
Jason

No problem getting it in Europe - any of the major German sellers has at least one variation, and will ship within all the EU. And Freestyle does ship it (surface only, as it is classified ORM-D) in the US. If you are on some other continent it will get difficult thanks to the hazmat shipping restrictions - surface/boat is slow, air couriers will be expensive, and vendors may refuse to handle either, or charge extra for it.

It's considered to be a "hazardous" material, so B&H has elected not to ship it. You can buy it at Freestyle, they will ship, but it will by ground and take several days before you get it.

hazardous?

hazardous?

Why is it considered hazardous though? I thought rodinal was one of the more environmentally friendly developers.. i can't imagine it's flammable?

I believe it's due to restrictions on crossing the bridges into/out of NY, possibly not B&H's decision.

As an aside, there's a lot of different "Rodinal"s out there, as you can see in the link. Recently (well, like 6 months ago) I bought several bottles from FS, the same stuff I've been buying for years, and they are acting drastically different than I am used to (with T-Max 100). I am very unhappy with the results with it right now. Not sure if something changed or if I got a bad batch or what. I started a big discussion about Rodinal and its variations on the Large Format forum a while ago, might be worth finding if you want to read. You can also make your own variant with Tylenol, something I've been meaning to try.

Freestyle has it and whenever I'm near their warehouse I'll swing by and get some...lots of places don't like shipping corrosive liquids...

All Rodinal variants contain sodium or potassium hydroxide, in fairly high concentrations. These can dissolve or weaken aircraft grade aluminium.

Maco direct used to have a twin pack of Adonal* (? I think ?) sealed in plastic for air transport. I can't see it on their website but they may still be able to ship by air.

* Edit - it was R09.

I suggest moving to HC-110 Kodak.
I USED Rodinal for about 40 years.
The "new" stuff (Blazinol) simply does not measure up to the old.
It got weaker, my bottles started to leak! Corrosion!
The HC-110 works with almost same dilutions, a one step developer.
I gained no more base film fog, finer grain and consistency again.

What is Blazinol - a US remake? There are faithful remakes of both old and new Rodinal from several German makers, some of them produced by the same laboratories that formerly supplied Agfa respectively Orwo.

Most R09/Rodinal receipts are made by Tetenal now. They are even selling it under their own Tetenal brand now (Paranol-S). Or in bulk selling to Compard (R09 one shot), Adonal (Impex) whatever who want to sell the product under their own name: Blazinol.
It can be the Agfa receipt or OrWo receipt. The Agfa receipt can differ in NaOH or KOH and filled under Nitrogen. Further the Agfa bottles were made of Silar, almost without any diffusion. In principle there is not much difference in development but the cheapest receipt without filling under N2 and a standard plastic bottle will fail after a few years.
