Getting started with Medium Format

Hello guys,

I've been shooting 35mm rangefinder for a couple of months and i'm ready to make my first venture into the world of medium format 🙂

I just wanted some advice as to which camera would be a good starter camera for a person venturing into medium format for the first time, its kinda confusing with all those TLRs/SLRs/RFs out there, so i was wondering if you guys could give me some advice or suggestions as to where i can start.

I've got a couple of criteria though. Firstly, it doesn't have to be PERFECT but i want a camera that i'll be relatively happy with even after shooting with it for somewhile, not like a seagull which would leave me wanting another camera in no time. Secondly it's gotta be relatively inexpensive. And thirdly, I want something that would work well with both colour and black and white. And lastly, i definitely want 6x6 🙂.

Hope some of you more experienced medium format-ers could help me out 🙂

Only one camera in the world fits those requirements, the Minolta Autocord. Innovated design, excellent glass, superior film handling, it is a significantly better camera that the vastly overpriced Yashica 124G and usually less expensive.

You'll love shooting it into the next century and it only has two minor faults; the somewhat vulnerable focusing lever and the outrageous but righteous enthusiasm of Autocord owners which can sometimes result in fist fights in the parking lot with Yashica owners whom dare to compare!
