Getting the rear glass out of canonet QL17

So I was trying to clean my shutter and aperture blades and I removed all of the front glass and was able to free up the shutter from the front using ronsonol. However, I tried to remove the back element, and only got one out of two. How can I take that last piece of glass out of the rear of the camera?

I'm also interested in figuring out how to remove the shutter for lubrication. I found a repair manual online, which shows a lot about how to assemble the shutter, but nothing about how to remove it from the camera.

It's very helpful, in fact that's how I figured out how to get this far. Unfortunately, the ql25 that he is working on doesn't have the additional element in the rear, so it doesn't explain how to remove it.

I don't know if this is the case, but sometimes you can't get all of the elements out unless you take the whole shutter lens module off the body.

This is what I suspect is the case with the Canonet. So, does anyone know how to do this?

Most compact 35s you need to peel back the front coverings from around the shutter/lens assembly, which will expose four screws that you remove to free up the front plate which holds the shutter/lens assembly. Look out for the sync wires, best to de-solder them as soon as you remove the front plate.

You don't say which version of the QL17 you have, as there are two (the older, large one, and the compact GIII), but I think the build is similar on both.

Thanks for the input. It's the earlier version QL17. I thought it was basically the same size as a GIII though. Admittedly I've never seen a GIII in person, but the photographs make them look the same size.
