This conversation actually happened a few hours ago. (I have witnesses!)

DigitalDude: You actually paid less than $50 for that camera and it takes pictures like that?! (looking at pics on my laptop)

Me: No, I paid less than $50 for the camera but I take pictures like that! 🙂

(touche') 🙂 🙂 🙂

Some I took of the Westward Ho casino last Thursday. It's scheduled to close in November. I'll attach a couple. I'll have some more on the web in a while.

This was somebody half my age who didn't know what a rangefinder was. 🙂

You should make him start using one, and developing GAS 🙂

I let him play with it, and I had to explain in detail how to focus. He really didn't seem that interested. He found it hard to believe that similar Leica cameras normally go for 4 figures. 🙂

My friend told me it was hard to focus, but he liked to play with it
I think slr's are more fun to play with

I always find the price of Leica's hard to believe, but I am a born sucker for that :bang:

Err, person above, please explain you image. 😀

While we find RFs instinctive, some people just find them hard to use. I confess that I'd rather focus on ground glass than with a split image for SLRs. Let them go their way. I had a friend who only used DSLRs and said that my Kiev was heavy and slow. Then one day he said he wanted to get a mechanical SLR. 😕 GAS has many faces. Who know if he will get an RF in the end.

You’ve remind me a Bresson’s saying. He was invited for dinner and the housewife told him: “Mr. Bresson you are taking great pictures! You must have a great camera!”. Bresson didn’t answer to her but when finished the dinner he told her: “Great dinner you must have great cooker!”. 😉

p.s. Awful translation from Greek, but I think you get the point.

Nice pictures!

You changed your Avatar. Now how am I going to know who you are or what you are saying? I think that was the best Avatar ever.

I like the concept. For all the majic bullets we tend to chase after, the one that matters most is the human element.

I assume you mean me. 🙂

The avatar is kind of an accidental self portrait, kind of. I was shooting the interior of a restaurant from an indoor passageway. I didn't realize until I saw the results that my reflection was clearly visible in the glass.

I'm finding it more and more easy to focus using the split image. I recently got an 18mm lens for the Pentax and it is incredibly difficult to focus on ground glass. I've found myself just setting it on infinity and crossing fingers or scale focusing.
