For the price of a broken Electro, I'd just buy one of those which comes with a good case. My GSN came with an awful synthetic fake-leather original case which is flaking off the colour; however I've seen plenty of auctions with earlier nice sturdy leather cases, much like the ones that came with my Lynx 1000 and Minister D. They look great even when worn out and do a very good job.

Plus you get a parts-Electro as well.

Great shots everyone! I pulled out my GSN again after not having used it for a while and am really enjoying it :) Here's two from a few days ago on XP2:

Here's the very first pic I took with the "new" Electro GSN I just bought. I'm so glad I found this camera, and so glad I found this forum! Thank you in advance for all the help I'm certain to need...

And here is the first pic I shot with the MG-1, which came as a package special when I bought the GSN. (It's been sitting on a shelf, totally unused, since 1975, and although it's only taken about fifty total pictures in its life, I think it needs a complete overhaul...)

What I like most about color photography is the colors! Where can you find better colors than flowers?

This is from an Electro 35 GSN and Fuji Sensia 100. This is only the second roll of slides that I have used and only my third roll of film through this camera.

I have also been playing with my scanner (Canon 4400F flatbed) and I think I have figured out some good settings to get decent film scans. This is the best I have seen so far.

Nice pic! Well..pass the wisdom: I'm still not so happy with my Canon 8600f in terms of color. Some secret setting, or just some messing with the sliders?:rolleyes:

I think it is mostly just messing with the sliders. I still use the ScanGear software which came with the scanner. This last set of slides I used a bit of Unsharp Mask and grain correction (low) with Auto tone. For color I use the "Adjust tone by selecting black/white points" on a histogram of the preview. I manually adjust the Black/White points for each color (Red, Green, Blue). The color adjustment isn't perfect, but it gives a better starting point when editing later (I use GIMP).

I'm not sure that I have got it all figured out, but my latest scans (both negative film and slides) have seemed much better than I have gotten before. One might get better results from Vuescan or some other software, but I wasn't able to get acceptable results from the demo so I decided to stick with ScanGear for now.

Here are some more flowers.

Thanks Paw-prints. I'll try to mess around a bit more.
Meanwhile, here's one from the local photo studio, no post processing:

I would say light seals at the bare minimum. Most likely the POD is a gooey mess as well...

A shot w/ the CC on Superia 400

Very cool picture! I really like it. But: The bokeh looks very odd (and far from beautiful IMHO). Is this normal for the CC at a wide aperture? The weird shape of the aperture diaphragm couldn't have anything to do with that, or does it? Do you remember the aperture value you shot this picture with?
