More likely a problem with the lab.

Pressure plate scratched are usually going to occur through the entire roll as fine lines. Try another roll and a different lab.
Inspect the plate of course before loading film.
If it is perfectly smooth it's probably not the issue.

That's quite comforting to know. I will renew the light seals anyway, as the condition of the old seals do look disgusting 🙂

I did not load a 100% crop here. But these pictures really are sharp at 17 million full color pixels. These are from my GSN that I have used since 1980 (but with Ektar 100 film). Since I usually used the hyperfocus technique with ISO 800 film, I never noticed until this winter that the infinity focus required adjustment - a 20 foot reading was actually infinity.

The Yashica Electro 35 GSN camera, that is a replacement for my original that I have used since 1980, took this picture in the dusk with its lens wide open. The film was my last roll of Fujifilm Superia 400, and it was processed and scanned at Meijer. Some of the blue tint and extra brightness is due to the calibration of the scanning.

This camera required new light seals, so I simply pressed in a single length of black cotton yarn. I had to set the ASA to 80 instead of 400 to get a correct shutter speed by comparison to my original. The resulting negative densities are rather less uniform than those from the original. The replacement is a Japan model that is heavier than the Hong Kong example. It has a darker gray filter for the viewfinder, and the frame marker and rangefinder spot are much brighter and not out of kilter.
