I saw a messenger bag I like, but I'm wondering hwo repairable the are if the stitching isn't great. Even a $50 repair a few years in would still make these a great deal. And if it lasts 10 years, it's a steal.

And I'm worried about the stitching. I can afford $125 or so for a leather bag, I should just buy one and take one for the team as it were...
 
I purchased one of their large satchel camera bags intending to use it as a bag for my medium format gear. Of course things never go as planned and I've used it almost exclusively as a carry on for travel (with clothes, computer, etc). After taking several trips with it I really like the bag, but I've had issues with the strap, well the clasp. The clasp comes undone randomly and I'd rather not have my computer get damaged from a fall.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a replacement strap? Ideally, I wish I could replace the clasp, but I don't really know how to do that. I was hoping to find something that matched the bag, but I haven't had much luck.

Currently, I'm I've found two potential canvas replacements, the:

I'll probably contact the seller and see if they have any options, but I doubt they have different hardware readily available.
 
I used to have a similar bag, made from goat leather. It smelt so much that I left it in the garage for a month to try and air it out, but it didn't help. Couldn't get rid of the goaty smell! When it got a little wet in a brief downpour it was REALLY bad so much that I had to put it in the boot of my car rather than on the seat next to me, and to cap it all once I left it on the floor leaning on a cream coloured wall and it left a horrible mark on the wall like it was greasy.

All in all, I'll avoid goat leather in the future - though I assume quality of said leather varies. Just be warned!
