going rate for s2 and 50mm f2?

Thread hijack alert.

Can you focus these things by turning the lens, or do you have to turn the little wheel thing?

To me in the UK, that sounds like a very good price, by the way.

Either is ok for internal mount lenses and light weight wides. The little wheel thing shouldn't be used to focus bigger lenses like the 10.5cm f2.5 or you'll end up damaging something.

I have a couple of original manuals- and it states the wheel can be used for internal mount lenses and the wide-angle lenses. On the latter, the focus is very light to the touch when using the focus ring of the lens. If you are getting a lot of resistance, probably time for a CLA. I tend to use the wheel only 5cm lenses, and the focus ring of the lens for anything else.

I may have seen this set when I was looking for a Nikon S2 + 50/2 last evening.

I was surprised it lasted as long as it did (more than 1 day lol).

if the one you saw had a bit of wear on the back plate around the bottom then that was it.

maybe this is the slide we were all secretly hoping for? or maybe just a weekend where everyone is spent.

The wide-angle lenses are very easy to use with the focus ring of the lens. I just picked up a 2.8cm F3.5- so will see how it works out. I have the 3.5cm F2.5 and F1.8, use both with their focus ring.

I have a nikkor 5cm 1.4, which i really enjoy, and am trying to decide what else to try in the pre to just post war field, LTM or Nikon S mount.

I'm looking at several contax 1.5s, which are reasonable--the summarits start to get a bit pricier, and am also open to the f/2s and slower.

suggestions, observations apreciated, TY

The Nikon wide-angle lenses are meant to be used with the focus wheel of the camera. The SP manual states that the Telephoto lenses cannot be used with the wheel as they are too heavy. I use the wheel with my 3.5cm F2.5, which has a very light touch.

I suspect the 2.8cm will be even lighter.

:D

I stated that they were easy to use with the focus wheel-, .TRUE. statement.

I prefer using the focus ring of the external mount lenses, I use the Telephoto's much more than the wide-angles. So- I got used to the focus rings of the external lenses.

When I had my Nikons RFs I used the wheel for normal internal and all wide angle lenses. It worked perfect for shooting with flash as I am a big off camera flash user.

Your approach and mileage may vary, but the amount of fun you have with a Nikon Rangefinder will not!

Congrats and enjoy.
