Thanks everyone for some excellent suggestions. I ended up spending a lot of time at the french quater and also visited the garden district and Lafayette cemetery. Didn't have a lot of time to do serious photography but came away with some half decent shots. I have to say though, the fried chicken at coops place was some of the best i've had.
