that looks great.
Someone had the focusing helical stripped of the black paint since the optical unit is still black. It's easy to do at home with a few lenses. The Ultron isn't hard to work on. I had to work on mine a few times when I had it because the retainer for the aperture blades came loose and the blades essentially fell out of their places. Easy rebuild.
Very nice looking lens.

Or the paint has just flaked off. Mine may end up looking like that before long

The 35/1.7 Ultron was my first lens for Leica mount cameras and it's still one of my favorites! The brass one looks great.

the great
helen i know i've done this question before but are you sure this guy is not tom waits?
My god, this lens is pretty good for the price. Wonder why it isn't more popular.

I picked up a copy because I love its rendering, and I am quite impressed by its hefty brassy build -- so I am unclear whether the criticism about build quality is merely just sample variation. I find that the Ultron 35/1,7 is a killer lens with tons of 'character' just like much more expensive glass with the 'glow' caused by veiling flare. .![]()
FANTASTIC Thomas...Congrats
it is a Great lens...Full of Character
