good cheap pocketable p&s?

i'm cross-eyed from reading so many camera profiles...

my iphone camera is not working today...not sure what i did to it!?

The Canon S90/95 are both fantastic, but a little on the bulky side to be considered "shirt pocket".

I have an S90, and two smaller powershots- the IXY 30S (i think it is the Powershot SD 3000 IS here in the USA) and the Powershot SD 940 IS.

The IXY 30S is fantastic, and looks like a ferrari (mine is yellow!).

i don't think there is a better performer in its size/price range. 28-105 equiv lens, f2.0 on the wide end. Shoots HD video with stereo sound, and takes fantastic pictures.

in my experience, there is simply no competition (overall) with Canon's compacts.
Some of the other brands' have good LOOKING cameras, with nice lenses, but none have the fast interface, great image quality, great video abilities, nice looks, and good price (all rolled into one) like the Canon Powershots.

More re the Sony TX5

Very good Zeiss lens, reasonably responsive, will do HDR jpg. Small sensor, so 400 ISO is about it, typical grain in blue skies. It is what it is - pretty capable, tough and very portable.

The image above is 1/8 sec, ISO 1250, with minimal crop and Lightroom treatment. It will not nail this shot every time, but pretty impressive all the same.

well, i finally decided what i want and am now in the process of buying one...i decided on a used panasonic lx3.
it fits most of what i am looking for plus a few extras...like fast lens, 24mm leica wide angle, it has raw...
what it isn't is truly pocketable (shirt pocket) or new (tho they are available locally new but too pricy for me)
specs look good and images look fine as well.

Panasonic Lumix FX500. Available used for under $100. Excellent wide lens, touch screen interface in addition to buttons/dials.

Image quality is as good as anything in the small sensored universe.

I have a Fuji E550 that I got secondhand for $129-produces nice 6MP and 12MP photos and love the slightly wide 4x zoom (32.5-130mm).

Great choice. It'll make you as happy as any pocketable digicam is likely to make you. :)

The Canon Elph 300 I just got as an ultra compact companion that starts at 24 mm at about $240 and not bad shuuter lag, some sample shots.

Fuji Z800 and the upcoming Z900EXR are worth a look-have SuperCCD EXR sensors, slim and pocketable. I have a Z700EXR and I like the option of choosing EXR modes in EXR Auto.
