good day in the classifieds

Hey Joe, been thinking about you and past posts.. I've been interested in Canons since I compared a Leica and Canon LTM side by side a couple weeks ago at a camera swap. I liked the weight and construction of the Canon, which surprised me because I hadn't liked the angular sides before. So when David Murphy posted his Canon I decided to take the plunge. I'm looking forward to the experience 🙂

simultaneous winners!

i had just given up on owning one of these, saw one last week on p.net for sale at way too much money for me. i decided to stash my cash and save some more and maybe get a black zi body or the new 50/1.5 zm.
then dave offers this up at a great price and i couldn't resist.
i have wanted one since they came out many years ago but never managed to have the cash and the opportunity at the same time.
it may be a permanent member of my kit or be up for sale within the year, all i know is i wanna play with one.

joe

Finally. Very cool. Congratulations.

the smaller canon bottom feeders are great too.

reputed to be better than the leica bottom feeders.

Actually, I agree. He's getting a good one and I expect he'll be very happy with it. Should have just kept my IVSb w/ 50/1.8 & stayed out of trouble... 😱

Joe, do you still have/use your later Canons? Just curious. By the way, I revisited the second RFF book tonight. Great intro by you, free verse poem if I ever read one. Yes, I'm getting a IIIa and I'll be sure to post some pictures! I was also looking at Leica IIIf's but the Canon came along.

William, for some reason I always assumed that was your place with the barn and tree. Just read the back comments in the RFF book tonight and discovered I was wrong. But then it sort of is an extension of yourself when you know a place that well and can capture it on film....

Joe, I think you'll find the Hexar AF one of the most unique cameras ever. It's an amazing design, and hard to imagine a more quiet or faster shooting camera.

One of the joys of using the Hexar AF is easy use of daylight fillflash. One of the great things about using a leaf shutter is flash at all shutter speeds. Here are two shots with the Hexar AF and fillflash. The first is with a modified Nikon flash and the second with a standard Nikon sb25. The second is a little hotter than I would like but I still think it works.

...i believe that quite a few members also have one of these and after mine arrives i'm thinking of starting a club.

🙂

I 'd love to see a club where people post images from and experiences of this gem.

I bought Scott's Silver HexAF a little while back, have "stealthed" it and am now enjoying the quirky but intelligently designed nature of this beastie.

Other reviews see http://www.cameraquest.com/konhex.htm

and heaps of user info (especially useful on the flash technique) on http://photo.net/photo/hexar.html

great to see other members with the camera popping up.

check out RFF member Todd Hanz's shots too - great stuff.

ok, we need some smart guys to figure out how we can form a camera (specific) club on the net.

i hope i like the af after all this but i think i will.
it should be here tomorrow before noon, i think, so i'll have the weekend to play with it.

interesting. Seems like a lot of folks with AF's also have CL's. What about Chinon CM-5s, and Lumixes, have you folks found these secret non RF nuggets as well??

Well I have the CLE! Another GREAT camera, and cousin to the CL.

Lynn and Oscar, thanks for the mention. I'm glad you like the post. I enjoyed certainly enjoyed writing it.

I think the second one mostly shows the joy of autofocus... The background looks more in focus than the subjects and you can blame it on the camera 😉
