What FSU lenses work well with bessa R and R2a? For that matter what are the best FSU lenses period?

I don't think you can find the Helios 103 in LTM mount. If somebody knows where, though, I'd like to know.

I think if you search the site threads, you'll find that, generally, there are no "best" lenses. It all depends on what you're looking for. A properly calibrated J-3 (50mm f/1.5) is a great lens to have, if you have a good copy. The J-8 (50mm f/2) is good too, if you don't get one that's all scratched, which is what I always seem to end up with and nobody ever seems to disclose when they're selling it.

is there a website that explains what all the J are?
i seem lost ... like J1 J2 J3 ETC ETC

is there a website which has photos of the jupitar lenses? (somewhat like cameraquest detailing the whole lens line up?)

most appreciate it

Check this site out:

http://www.commiecameras.com/sov/35mmrangefindercameras/lenses/index.htm

Jupiters were copies of Zeiss prewar lenses that were made by KMZ in the USSR.

J-3 - copy of the Zeiss 50mm F/1.5 Sonnar
J-8 - Zeiss 50mm F/2.0 Sonnar
J-9 - 90mm F/2.0 Sonnar clone
J-11 - 135mm F/4.0 Sonnar
J-12 - 35mm F/2.8 Biogon

wow! great site!
i notice that the site says its 52mm.. i suppose that is close to 50mm

so are the jupitar lens actually of zeiss quality too?

They are copies of Zeiss designs. I dunno if I would say of Zeiss quality. As far as I know everything but the Jupiter 12 and Jupiter 11 should work, the 12 because of the large rear element and the 11 because there are no frame lines, but a a finder might fix that. It should also be noted that you would be lucky to be able to collapse any of the collapsable lenses into a Bessa. But that ok because a FSU body can be quite reasonable. A link was mentioned the other day from ebay for $23 shipped. You could of course support a sponsor and have someone to turn to should it there be something wrong. 😛

Careful is a slippery slope.

Are there any focus issues with J8 & Bessa R ?

I recall reading (here) some months ago that there might be some close focus problems with certain J8 's on a Bessa R and that these can be corrected by adding and/or removing certain shim rings.

Perhaps some members could help me with this issue. I have a Bessa R with the CV35/2.5 and a J8 that I am reluctant to use.

Thanks for any help or information.

Regards,

Bill K.
