First off my 4x5 monorail camera arrived!!
Here's an awful phonecam photo of it

Here's a not so awful first neg!!
(cropped image due to 35mm scanner pushed to the max!!)

If was dark outside by the time I got myself together. About a minute exposure, flashing a torch from my phone on various points to add some shine, course I knocked the tripod so the shot is a bit blurry! shot at f/8 on an Aviar Anastigmat (Cooke) 10.5inch
Just thought I'd take this opportunity to also draw some shameless attention to my sig. I noticed Vic' M has a Summitar for sale but I can't afford it unless someone wants to buy my Kiev and Jupiter-8 or CZJ Sonnar collapsible (or all 3!).
I have a recent blog up as well in case anyone's interested.
Hope everyone has had a great weekend, I'm still trying to get over this cold!
EDIT: Why why why is IMG code off??

Nice. What do you use for a tripod for it? I'd like to try large format and I know someone who might have a 4x5 to sell, but my tripod only supports like 7 pounds...

Thanks for sharing a good mood, it cheered me up.
Congratulations on the new rig!

I'm using a 'Lander' tripod. Pretty lightweight, just about holds the camera but can wobble at times. Buy 4x5! Soon as you see the negs you'll be amazed!

Thanks
I'm still looking for subjects to photo with it though - they have to be pretty stationary

The best camera is one that still works!

The morgue ... or maybe the Wax Museum!

Reciprocity Failure
Just do what I do for large format portraits - throw 3000w/s at the subject. If it's not enough to freeze the image on the neg, it at least stuns them and prevents motion.
I'll take a look at the neg when I get home - the firewall at the office blocks photobucket (and flikr). Congrats on finally getting the rig. Enjoy it!

Keith, no chance!
RD, no worries . it seems a lot of companies block those sites now!
Fred, thanks! I really hope I can make more use of my cameras and build a proper portfolio (a year after I promised to start!
