Good News from Ilford

Glass Plates! Whee! I wonder if I can find one of the old Contax plate adaptors at a semi-sane price? Wouldn't that just be a major hoot and hollar :D ?

Stupid question here. What are the modern day applications for glass plate negatives? I thought they disappeared around the turn of the 20th century.
 
They were in use in scientific applications - microscope images I think, astronomy for sure - until the end of WWII I think, that's why ZI had an adaptor for the Contax. I just think it would be fun to do albumen prints off of glass negatives.

Unfortunately, a quick look around the web shows only one complete kit at Ritz for considerably more money than I can justify for the play value. Plus I don't have a Contax I that it would fit... :bang:

I don't understand this:

Does this mean SFX200 will be discontinued? I was planning to start using this for at least some b&w.

Anybody know for sure?

Trius, yes SFX200 will be discontinued. But it is more of an infrared film and you may find Maco IR 820c more interesting
 
What about the recent jump in price? Will the price of Ilford products return to normal or remain where they are now? I have seen an increase in the cost of newer stock...some dealers have been selling the older stock at the original cost and selling the newer stock at an adjusted price.
I've been using Ilford paper and paper developer and am glad to hear that I'll still be able to continue using them.
 
Three weeks ago i had a little shock when i bought a 35mm XP2 and at the counter they said, it's 6,75 (euro).
I hope that's going to change.
 
How much, approximately, is 6,75 euro?

PS: down here on the Mexican border all we have are pesos (10.5 pesos to one dollar US).

Euro = 100.109 MXN
Mexico Pesos
 
6.75 euro x 1.25 (about, this ratio differs every day) = price in dollars.
You do the maths. :p

Thanks, Socke. But thanks to a spasm of advanced dyslexic senior moments disease, I was thinking XP2 but typing SFX. Doi! Thankfully XP2 will remain.

I usually buy 100 ft. rolls of either TriX, Arista 400, or Ilford HP5. I've never really figured it out to the dime, but I suspect, when the smoke clears, a roll is costing me about one dollar. Maybe less. And that's making 25 exposure rolls.

That's not on the cheap side neither, i guess. I took the time today and looked around at websites of bigger, mail-order type dutch shops. The cheapest XP2 i can get (135/36 frames) is euro 4,40 ( = 6$). Does include VAT but not the shipping, of course.
However, in 120-format i can get it for euro2,90 ... Go super ikonta go!:)
