What is a good price on Jupiter 9? I am thinking of getting one.
I see one on the bay for 50euros from Moscowphoto.

Are there any compatibility problems using it on Bessa R?

Thanks

I was watching one on eBay for the past week, forgot that it finished yesterday and t went for £4.99 - UNGH!

But, yes, $50 seems to be the asking price from the FSU countries - although I'm not sure I trust an ebay shop called "soviet army stuff" for their photographic gear, especially something with a reputation for being delicate like the J-9 has.

I bought an M42 mount J-9 from Soviet Army Stuff, if I recall, and it was brand new and perfect.

Hi,
The sellers mentioned are good honest sellers but and I think it is a big but, there is a significant problem with the LTM J9's. Even from one of the better sellers is is more than likely that you will not get a "good" lens and this even includes Oleg. I have seen/dealt with about 12 so far. Only 2 were OK and the rest had a problem with back focussing at close range. Some of these were relatively easy to fix although it is a PIA and you make have to fabricate some different shims. On several to get them close, I had to machine the aperture control ring to get the optical group to sit in the right place.

I don't think the sellers can be "blamed" for this. It is more a production/history problem and the only way to tell is with expensive optical test gear or a film test and I very much doubt any of the sellers film test the lenses first. If they did, I wouldn't be kept so busy. ;)

Thanks Kim, I had been hesitating over getting a CV 75/2.5 on the chance I could get a J-9. However, you've made up my mind for me.
