google: nik software for sale $149.

I think this may be the standard price (as opposed to a temporary sale) going forward and is for a bundle of all of their software, which previously would've cost about $500...

I own two NIK products (Vivezza and HDR Efex Pro). Vivezza is extremely useful for my work. I use HDR Efex Pro for natural blending of residential exterior photography where the shadows and bright sky exceeds my camera's dynamic range. This is almost always necessary for north-facing buildings.

Today I got an email that offered me all the remaining NIK plug-ins for free. I just installed then into LR 4.4RC and PSE. It was extremely simple and everything works perfectly.

The Silver Efex Pro 2 and Dfine packages look to be the most interesting for my needs.

Been wanting to give Silver Efex a go for sometime. This bundle price is really appealing. Going to order.

I got the same email that offered the bundle for FREE. bwidjaja, I'll be happy to forward the email to you if it helps. pm me.

I've been looking at Silver Efex for a while now. The bundle price is now $100 lower than the education discount price used to be. Looks like you have to buy the bundle though, no individual plugins are listed.

Did you check your junk mail folder? I found mine there, and I am using gmail...

In my gmail junk mail too! Thanks for pointing this out. For me Silver Efex Pro has been essential. My next most used is Viveza. And they finally got it right (for me, anyway) with the last update of Color Efex Pro. I'll have a look at the bundle, as I has some interest in dFine and sharpener. I really like the u-point technology, especially since i'm no whiz at PS selection tools.

I'm getting no help from Google support: sent them the serial and purchase date details for my Nik software several days ago, but so far I've only had one reply asking for more details, and then nothing else whatsoever in reply to several follow-up mails trying to find out what's happening. A total blank.

In the meantime I've seen people say they've had literally five-minute turn-around times from first enquiry to getting their download link.

Really frustrating to be met with a wall of silence - and I really feel that my original misgivings about Google buying Nik are being confirmed. Lousy customer service that really doesn't give a sh!t.

And there's no way Google are getting into the software production business to support third-party platforms - they're definitely in this to strip out the functionality to a ChromeOS app that'll only run on compatible hardware, while I'm convinced the plug-ins will stagnate and die.

Sad - I tend to use Viveza a lot, so my hope is that the version I already own will remain compatible with future versions of Ps and Lightroom, because I really have no expectations for its long-term survival in Google's hands.

FYI- I bought SilverEfex less than 2 months ago & called Google/Nix Software and told them I paid over $200 for silver efex and now the offer is for $149 for all products? On call 30 minutes/they gave me the opportunity to upgrade to all products/ $0! Which I did and downloaded all products… very cool… BTW the Google customer rep transferred me to a Nik Software tech - they were all very helpful... daniel.

This is the offer which I'm also entitled to - having spent about $400 on Nik software and upgrades the last couple years.

But do you seriously think that this massive giveaway, and the promise of perpetual free upgrades for all users and all products, shows a genuine long-term commitment to the range of plug-ins?

That's just not a realistic, professional commitment to developing these products in the future. They're giving it away now, to dampen protests when they kill it in 12 months' time - how can anyone complain when they got the whole bunch of apps for free eh?

Or what sort of new business model are Google exploring here? Give it all away, and upgrade it perpetually in the future for free - and still dedicate all the resources and manpower it needs to push forward?

Nah - subscription-based ChromeOS app coming to a computer NOT near you soon.

PS: gotta say in some respects it's a genius move by Google - everyone loves free stuff, and 'why look a gift horse in the mouth' and so on. Right now they've made a lot of people happy by saying: "the first fix is free".

Mani-It is smart- What Googles longer term strategy is yet to be seen BUT- I know have all the Nix Products for what i already paid for the SilverEfex cost & I was very happy with the initial purchase... WIN_WIN for all.... good luck in getting to them

There's no free lunch, or world has changed? Google should have something under the skin.

Exactly - at the same time as getting all this technology from Nik, by releasing it without any copy-protection and either free or at a very low price, they effectively set off a nuclear device in the market - wiping out all the competition and ensuring that no-one new can enter the market with a competing and innovatory product.

I'm ashamed to say that all I was interested in right now, was getting my free plug-ins to compensate for all the money I've poured into the Nik products I've bought in the past. But it's short term gain, really. And we'll all be losing out in the future. I'm as easily bought as the next man. :(

These plugins are all very good although I have not tried them all and the ones I have tried are older versions. Dfine works great to remove digital noise. It removes noice and does not degrade the image much if at all when used sensibly. Color efex pro has some great filters that I find indispensable (although the majority of them are not of much use). And of course Silver efex is superb. Viveva is not used all that often I find, but when it is needed, wow it works a treat and produces great fixes that would otherwise need a lot of effort masking and so forth. This price is cheap for what you get. I would upgrade mine but I mainly use Corel Paintshop Pro as my base software for processing and the latest version of some of the Nik products do not function properly when running off this (earlier versions do).
