Dear RFFers,

I have been seeing many different verions of the Gossen Luna Six Meters around. i.e. Lunasix 3, Lunasix 3S, Lunapro SBC, Lunapro S, Lunapro F. What are the differences?

All I konw is that 'six' is name used in Europe while 'pro's are for models sold in the State and the 3S is the current selling model.

Somone is offering me a Lunasix 3 for USD70.00 in non-tested working order with case.

I have already got a Digisix for everyday use but I suppose one of these Lunasix will do a better job for serious landscape / night photograhy.

I konw there will be battery problem but there are always adaptors to take care of this.

Shall I acquire this piece of equipment and how does it compare to the digisix? what more can I get out of the lunasix?

how do you like the Digisix, Sean?

I use my Digisix for general street photography when I plan to be walking around a lot and lighting conditions won't be difficult.. but I use my Luna Pro SBC in lower light conditions or when I won't be carrying it around much.. my Luna Pro is much faster to read and adjust than the Digisix, and more sensitive in lower light

I think that price is ok, but nothing great.. I bought my SBC model, which uses a standard 9volt battery for about $70 with shipping.. they're fairly easy to find online

Hi Brett,

Nice to see you here again.

I am at present shooting my first roll with the Digisix on my Rollei 35, I took the battery out of the camera so to make sure I use the reading form the Digisix.

Well.... I love it, its so compact that I now keep it in my pocket all the time even without a camera with me just to practice guessing and reading EVs. Its a good learning tool !

So which Lunasix has the best / most funciton? and which ones are the newer version?

Heh.

I sold my Sekonic in order to move to a Digisix/Lunasix combo.

The digi is for out and about in the day and when I'm travelling really light, the lunasix is for nighttime, and for when I need to use the 7.5 degree attachment (which is a handy extra, and spot enough for my needs).

As with everything, used the lunasix is more expensive here in the UK. I can't remember what I paid for mine, but it was a little bit more than $70.

One thing to watch - Gossen and their distributors won't touch the grey-bodied versions (newer ones are black) for service or repair. Apparently they no longer have the parts needed.

Mine is grey. I'd like to get it checked over. I recall Joe mentioning Quality Light Metric - I have been meaning to get in touch with them.
