From Ebay but a local guy. Picked it up today.
For $22 I got the camera, case, strap and lens cap.
This one looks great! I will need to put seals in it.
Everything works but the battery is 1.5 volts in it...
Will have to check the meter against another meter
in daylight. This thing weighs a ton! The speed ring
is tough to turn also. Self timers a bit slow. Speeds
seem about right. The viewfinder is really good on
these things... will run half a roll of film thru this
Konica, then back it out and run the rest thru my
Canonet and see which is better...

You already have a Canonet? To me, the Konica S2 is just like the QL17 on steroids: bigger. However, I won't say better (I'm tempted) because of the size, precisely.

The good thing about the Konica is that it has a couple more shutterspeeds (slower) than the Canonet. I believe it shoots 1 full second and then 1/2, whereas the Canonet starts at 1/4.

I had a good Konica S2, but almost never used it, so I sold it. I don't regret it, though, but must tell you that the VF has nothing to envy from Leica.

Regarding the battery... I wouldn't worry about it. The meter will work fine with it! :)

Rob,
If the lens is as good as the one on my S2, you will LOVE how sharp and contrasty it is. I shoot Velvia 50 with mine and get fantastic color slides with it.:D

Yes but according to the manual these speeds cannot be used
in auto mode with certain speed films...odd. In Manual these
speeds are usable..

This Konica is heavy enough to be a lethal weapon...

I keep reading that the Auto s2 lens is really sharp so I had
to get one to try...

Ron,
So, have you some pics to share with us from your new toy yet? Com'on, don't be shy ~ ; - )

No need for that test. The Konica has the better lens. Let's see some snaps from it.

Weird, Saturday I bought an S2 with case for $18.95. He threw in a camara bag for a flat $22. The thing is in great shape, very clean, decent light seals, meter works.

Hi,
I think the reason the slower speeds cannot be used in Auto mode is that the exposure is likely to outside the range of the meter rather than they will not work. The only thing I don't like about the S2 is that they seem to be a liitle fragile. /i had my first S2 many years ago. I had to have it repaired twice after very slight knocks. I think the weight and momentum contributed to this! When the lens mount cracked for the 3rd time and I had another camera I gave up. However, I have now replaced it and it looks even better with a green genuine leather skin.
