I got beat up pretty good this morning, and my keys and car were stolen. Oddly the guy left me with my wallet - made no attempt to get it.
I was looking to replace the car within a year anyway so as much as it sucks to be without a car, I'm not too upset about that. More upset about getting punched in the face repeatedly.
Unfortunately I had my bag with three cameras in the car, and I know that even if the car shows up, it's not likely I will ever see the cameras again. Nothing particularly rare or valuable, just some of my favorites - an Exa, a Zorki 4, and a Reflekta. And a fresh pack of Fuji acros. :bang:
I'm hoping insurance will cover them, but for now I'm just going to put an ice pack over my eye and try to relax. This is not the sort of thing that happens around here, it's pretty disappointing.

dude, no matter what, things can be replaced or found again but your health and physical well-being has no price on it. here's to hoping for a quick recovery.

Man, that sucks. Have a doc examine your eye and face. Detached retina etc etc.

I'm fine. I waved down a passing car only seconds after it happened and an EMT arrived within a minute. I'm still kind of sore, but I should be fine. Thank you for the concern about my well being.
It happened in Austin, Texas. Right off I-35. It was a high traffic area and stuff like this doesn't usually happen there (even though some nearby neighborhoods are rather sketchy).

Really sorry to hear about this. And I think it is probably a good idea to get a doctor to to take a look at you too. I hope you heal quickly.

Luckily the car has been recovered (yay).
Unfortunately the cameras are gone. I had some really great shots on the exa that I will not be able to reproduce so it's incredibly frustrating to lose them. Sigh.
I still have some bruising but most of it is healed up now and I'm feeling back to normal, so that's also good I guess.

Too bad about the lost shots but .. hey, at least you're mobile again and your eyesight isn't permanently damaged by the beating. As for the cameras, Ebay is beckons.

Glad you are OK and that your eyes are OK, too. It hurts to lose your cameras, at least they can be replaced. You are alive! Our thoughts are with you.

Just seen this. Disgusting.
Have you replaced the cameras? Were they insured?
Hope you've recovered okay.
