I got a beautiful Koinca Auto S camera very recently on ebay, and it turned out that the aperture was stuck on F16. I only paid $35 (total) for the camera. My camera repairman told me that fixing the lens would take much more than the camera was worth. I went today to ebay to place my feedback for the item, and I chose positive feedback. Then I sent the seller an email about the camera. To my surprise, I received a full refund (including shipping) from the seller.

Isn't this a nice gesture.

What was your reasoning for giving +feedback before contacting the seller about the defective camera?

Personally, I always send a seller an email first to see how they handle the situation and then leave my feedback, factoring their response in. With something like this, it all depends on how the item was advertised. If it wasn't advertised as fully working, then your seller was really just being kind.

Nick: The camera looked great and it seemed to work fine, except the aperture did not open fully. Maybe the seller thought that since it was an automatic camera, a battery was needed for full opeartion of the camera.

I was rationalizing that with assigning the seller a negative feedback for something that "could" have slipped through, I have no chance of getting some of the money back.
