After years of waiting on the sidelines, I finally got my foot in the door. I bought an M2 and two lenses (DR Summicron and Voigtlander Ultron 35 f1.7) from a fellow RFF member. Buying on RFF is really the best thing because you know you are getting equipment that works. My new camera has had a recent CLA and I hope will give me years of good service until the next CLA.
I have been using Kiev 4's and a Bessa R2C for most of my shooting so the M2 was quite a thrill to use. It is all it's made out to be, the ergonomics just feel so 'right'. Amazing piece of machinery.
The shutter on my M2 is really quiet, probably a little quieter than both my Kievs and a mere 40dB quieter than the Bessa.
Here are some photos from the first roll taken in a nearby park.
All with the DR Summicron.
Sadly the Leica hasn't made me a better photographer...yet

I think the M2 is tops for being comfortable to work with. I like your snowman standing on the bench edge—he looks so happy. Surely the M2 excels at this sort of photo, made while walking in the snow on a lovely day.

Congratulations ! The M2 is a great camera, beautifully built, and no clutter VF. The DR Summicron should balance very nicely.
Nice pictures. What film, developer did you use ?

Nice kit you purchased! Do you develop the film yourself?

jmcd, Subhash and Thomas thanks for the comments.
The film and developer combo is the standard Tri X and D76, all developed at home. My photography has suffered after having founded a tech startup a couple of years ago. I have not had the time to print so everything is being scanned and printing will resume when there is more spare time.

Very cool snowman. I have shot about 5 rolls with my new M2 with different lenses and have yet to develop any. Hopefully my shots are half as good as yours. i am almost ready to go to Walgreens. Hopefully they will be able to develop the TriX.

Thanks! I only have a 35mm and 50mm which is what I mostly use anyway but I also want to get a 90mm for portraits. Maybe a Voigtlander APO Lanthar after I get my tax refund...
Developing at home is very easy and rewarding. Don't know how much walgreens will charge you but I bet you could develop it at home at 1/10th the cost and exercise all the creative control like pushing, pulling, enhancing contrast etc.
