Where did I say that?

I have a Yashica GSN, but I know there are a lot of digital shooters here also.

It was a joke, penguin.

How does the 350 differ from the 300? I've let mine collect dust since I started hanging around with this crowd. I really should make more of an effort to take it out.

I don't have the 300D, but I have used it a little and read a lot.

The 300D does not have the three focusing modes. It also isn't as fast and it has a smaller sensor. The 350d is also VERY small compaired to it (well almost anything).

You know-- I really like Canon gear, vintage and digital.

This is how sick I have become, In the large image of the leaf-- Immediately after noticing how beautiful and sharp it was my eye swiftly jumps to scanning the OOFA (LOL-- take that SOFA!) or bokeh (ah that's better).

I noticed a few nice soft pentagon shapes in the highlights. What a camera you have there! What lens did you get with it?

The 350D is the Rebel XT to those on my side of the world right? I was just reading the Pop Photo article about it, I am thinking I have to admit. I have been thinking of buying an EOS 7n body just to upgrade my SLR gear, which in many cases is so much easier to deal with when I am chasing children around, but I don't know if buying another film body is a good investment.

Now, having said that, my mind just turned on and seeing the word investment make me think, "but dummy, that digital body will be made obsolete by advancing technology in 6 months." This is why I haven't bought a digital camera yet. I am a hopeless luddite.

I think my brother is buying a Canon G6, maybe that is a better way to go than a 7n or Rebel XT.

I'm waiting for a digital body with the same lense mount as my Contax IIIa. Until then, film!

And Penguin, as far as I'm concerned, you can stay on this forum as long as you don't start acting like a photo.net digit head.

I took that pic with a 50mm 1.8. I did not get the kit lens because i already have and use:
50 1.8
80-300 4-5.6
28-90 4-5.6

I got the 28-90 with the Elan 7 which is a very nice camera for the price and they both have a lot of the same features.

I am in Missouri and it is called the Digital Rebel XT, but I like typing the four letter 350D insted because I am lazy. 😀
I thought that too for a long time, but I finally came up with the fact that it does everything I need for now, so what if it gets old. It will keep working and getting great pics 50 years from now if you take care of it of course.

I've been using my D60 SLR for over 2 years now, and see no compelling reason to upgrade it just yet. Well, there is only one compelling reason (better high-ISO performance). I will sit it out at least another year before an upgrade. These things don't become obsolete as fast as they used to when the technology was still really evolving.

I have the 300D and I love it. As a backup for that camera I have an EOS 1000FN and a 1000F. I got these mainly for the lenses that they came with. 35-70 USM on the FN and 80-200 on the F. I have to mention the 1000F was about $30 more expensive than the 1000FN (on ebay). The only thing wrong with the 1000F is the flash sync speed is out but for natural light it is a good camera.

Nice shots, Penguin! (BTW, is your handle related in any way to Linux?)

I owned a 300D and liked it very much, though I eventually sold it. The 350D is attractive, especially for its small size. DSLR's are good for kid shots because they focus fast and don't have any noticeable shutter lag. High iso is very good too, for available light.

I like film but digital is good too!

Kai, exactly the same here! Although I'll have to send my D60 to Canon Service soon, so they can replace all the tiny screws I've lost.
Never happend with my various film cameras, only on a Canon Powershot G1 and the D60 😡

And I lost the Eyecup, too :bang:

Thanks for providing a voice of reason guys. I will get with the times eventually.

And for my luddite friend Roger,

😀 😀 😀
