Got my Canon 350D today...

The Canon XT aka 350D is a very good camera; not like the neutered 300D. There were two main reasons why I upgraded from a 10D to a 20D and not a 350D: size and lack of back wheel. My hands are too big for the 350D; heck, my Leica M6 only feels comfortable with the "ever"ready case always on --the M5 or the Canon 7/7s feel right just the way they are.

The XT/350D have very good image quality, are reasonably quiet, and would be a good backup to any "professional" dSLR.

Now, like some of you, I have a dizzying mix of gear: besides the M6, Franka and Olympus, there's the 20D, an Elan IIe (50e), Leica R4, Lubitel 166, Hasselblad 500 c/m, Nikon Coolpix, Nikon Pronea, Vivitar 3655, Polaroid iCam...and working on a few more. And this is a serious hobby. There are people that seriously think I do this for a living (I wish, so the gear could pay for itself). I foolishly returned a Canon 7 in perfect condition (no wrinkled curtain). :bang:

And you guys...have opened the window to other gear I hadn't even considered before!! The Mamiya 6, the Fuji rangefinders, the Zorkis, the Feds, the Kodak Retinas!!! 😀

No, I don't think you can quit the forum...resistance is futile!

Hi Socke --
(responding to your post 21/5... I'm a few days late replying here)

Wow - what have you been doing to your poor D60 to loose all those screws and other bits?!

I must say that there is ONE other compelling reason other than better high-ISO performance that I would make me upgrade to something like the 350D or one of it's future family members.... and that's SIZE. I know that some people find it too small, but for me small is good. My previous SLR's prior to this canon were an all-manual Yashica FX-3 and a Pentax Super A - both of them are tiny compared to these big EOS's.
