Got myself an MR-4

I got this chrome MR-4 for $27 on ebay. Tonight I made a little crescent shim out of plastic cut from a 35mm film container, loaded it with a 675 zinc aircell, and it seems to meter just the same as my MP. 😀

I've played with this idea for the M2 in my possession, but unless I get as lucky as you did, I'll settle for my Sekonic L-428.

I had one several years ago for my M4 - was surprisingly accurate - I only got rid of it because it made the camera too bulky to fit into a large coat pocket.

NIce looking kit you have there - enjoy!

These meter are really nice and the nice side-effect is the easier to rotate shutter-dial. I have on in black-chrome for my M4-P, very accurate meter indeed: (Sold the Elmar-M since then ...)

amateriat: I think I DID get lucky. With all the meters floating around out there, it seems tricky to get one that is working properly, although I think the MR-4 model is quite available in black, it seems the chrome ones are much harder to hard. I'll just have to see how consistant the readings are with these batteries.

sleepyhead: I know what you mean about it making the camera bulky (and let's not forget the ugly factor). It kind of defeats the purpose of the collapsible Elmar it carries. 😱 Oh well, I figured at this price, I would at least be able to use it when I feel a need for it. I'm guessing it won't be on the camera full time. I'm going out of town this weekend to shoot about 30 rolls of Kodachrome, so we'll see how well this puppy works! 🙂

maddoc: That is one beautiful M4-P you have there! Yes, probably the main reason I wanted one of these was the coupling that the meter has with the shutter speed dial. That is so...M7! LOL

BTW, what kind of strap is that?

That's the original Leica-strap that came with the camera 🙂
