Another thing I should have mentioned.. Regardless of the $$ (this happens with both big and small $$ clients) some repeat clients are a lot of fun to work for. You look forward to seeing and photographing the people and their events. Often a low paying client will showcase your work in their publication making a great portfolio piece. You never know what they'll be like until you have done a few jobs for them - and you get comfortable with each other. If it looks interesting, give it a shot.. might be great fun and a playground for good photo work.
That's true. I know everyone at the gallery openings re QUT staff and enjoy catching up. The main tech who's responsible for all the video installations and setups is always good to have a drink and a chat with after the events.
Turning up to something where you don't know a soul is a very different feeling.
