...and I'm not talking about the dog! Found a 40mm viewfinder that I had laying around and put it on my GF1/Pancake. Match made in heaven! Never thought such a simple addition would really change the way I feel about shooting with the GF1. Now, I just turn off the display, leave it in AF and shoot away! Really brings me back to the days (not too long ago) of shooting with my Bessa T and 40 summicron! Maybe just my imagination but even the shutter sounds more like film!!!

I like the shutter sound too.
Do you have the focus confirm beep on, or do you just listen for the movement of the lend?

That is exactly the combination i am thinking of until they release a 28mm equiv lens. once that happens ill be doing the same thing with the 28mm lens.

Question?
Is the finder 4/3 or 3/2? I use the 17 on the Pen with the finder.
Now with the 20, I'm looking for a finder.
I do raw only so cropping is not an option.

The CV finder is 3/2. I am thinking of finding something too. I think I am hoping CV introduces some 4/3 finders. It is not like them to sit on the sidelines when an opportunity exist for them to benefit from filling a gap in a successful system.

Nice combo
Since I don't have a finder readily available I'm using mine with Panasonic EVF. not the best in terms of image quality but still very usable. That shutter sound is a weird one though.

In an era of virtuality it sounds very...real.

Mabelsound: I presently have the focus beep on low, but you brought up an interesting concept with going with the sound of the lens AF motor. I'll try that and see how good my hearing still is...

I was thinking of getting the 20mm lens for my GF1, with the same combo in mind.
What about the autofocus? Does it ever focus on something that you weren't intending? Since you're using the brightline, and not the LCD, doesn't it sometimes autofocus on a different object than you intended?
Thanks.

Haven't had any problems so far, but you're right, it could be an issue. I guess I can live with a certain ratio of OOF shots (maybe 1 in 20 would be OK?). Since I'm just an amateur, most of my shots are not priceless. But if I ever have a feeling it's gonna be a great shot, then I'll turn the LCD on to be safe.

I'm using the VC 35mm finder on my GF1/20 combo. I use face detection and it works very well. But I don't mind using the LCD at times.

Anyone reckon it makes any sense to use a CV finder on the EP-2 instead of the EVF when i'm not using auto focus..?

You've got to focus somehow. External view finders don't allow that. You're left with zone focus or auto focus. Without a distance scale zone focusing gets tedious, I reckon.
