A new video on YouTube compares the GR with the GRD III. The lens extension sound is much more discreet, but the shutter sounds louder. I am not sure if the camera sounds have been turned off. Focusing is darn near silent, and pretty fast. It hunts a bit, particularly in close ups and macro, but focuses very quickly at longer distances.

Very nice indeed. How far were you from the flowers on the foreground? I'm still trying to figure out the degree of blur for the background one could achieve with a 18mm f2.8 lens in "normal" conditions (not macro).

I loved some of his photos, especially the long-exposure cityscapes.
I'm sure he has heavily processed most of his pictures, but nonetheless the output from this little baby looks really promising.
EDIT: just noticed that the set contains photo from different GRD models. Only the last photos are taken with the new GR. One can actually tell the difference.

Holy heck, if that's the kind of image quality I will be able to squeeze out of the GR, this is going to be one of the coolest cameras, ever. I'm not quite sure what the EXIF data here means, but it seems like he is processing the OOC jpegs in Lightroom 4.4. Is this right?

I was really close. Put the camera almost right up to them and backed off until I could get an in-focus shot. Was midday and the light was a bit harsh, but the Sunday social obligation/errand schedule didn't allow me to get to the park in the early morning or closer to dusk as I would have liked to.
No, I'd like high ISO in my pocket cam. I don't only photograph in bright light. AND resolution and sharpness isn't everything. I own and use the DP2 Merrill, but I wouldn't want to use it for everything.
Most of these mirrorless cameras do this...

Agreed - no different than any other I've used.
Heck, even DSLRs will hunt - Autofocus is not the be all and end all of focusing systems

Nice camera, pity they did not opt to include a viewfinder. Clip on viewfinders are not the same, in my opinion, just something to snag on things, plus I tend to lose anything that size in a hot shoe.

It appears the days of cheap optical VFs in these cameras are over. In the film days, there was no choice. Now many people use LCDs without any complaint. For the rest of us, they figure a real optical VF is the better option (though your concerns are noted).

I have such severe GAS for this camera. Probably haven't had this much GAS since the original X100. Starting to feel silly.

Will the ovf have an area which shows the center af point location?

The OVF is similar (if it's the "same" as the previous models) to any "normal" OVF (think Voigtlander viewfinders - all they have is framelines; no "centre point" per se).
