The above camera was in a sorry state, see my previous thread. Having cleaned of a lot of the corrosion off, the camera still works but the fast shutter dial won't lift for speed selection, it turns when yo wind on it's stuck on 20 so the slow speeds work. Is there anyway I can free up the dial or will I have to take it to an expert. I'm new to Leicas, I got this camera for free so it would good if I could do it myself.
Any advice would be fantastic!

Grab yourself a set of little screwdrivers (should be able to find these at an electronics store) and open it up to take a look.

Considering you didn't pay for it, you should just turn this into a project. Find the appropriate documentation, ask for advice, and find out how to completely fix the camera yourself.

No WD40 - that stuff causes long-term damage, is very mobile, and hard to get rid off once it has crept into the gearing. Lighter fluid or a drop of precision oil could do - on the other hand, it is next to impossible to damage a slotted screw head with the matching (in length and width) screwdriver, so using the right tool would do it too.

Correction to my previous...Sevo is right about WD40. It does the trick but gets everywhere. lighter fluid is a good alternative.

Apologies and thanks Sevo

Lemon juice removes/dissolves verdigris, that green corrosion that may be holding the screw but looking at the state of the rest of it I wouldn’t be confidant about removing it
