Grey finish M2?

I am just curious as I saw this one on ebay

at first, I thought it's a not bad repaint, but now the bidding is already run as high as 2600+ USD. For me, it's definitely too high for a repaint body.

Anyone know the existence of a Gray Leica M2?

If it's real, it's an M2 Luftwaffe, 20 copies made per Stephen. 0 feedback seller though.

The serial number given, 1005765, falls in an unlisted range in my Hove listing.

1005451-1005750: M2, 1960

1005771-1007000: M2, 1960

1005765 falls between the cracks.

I would check with Jim Lager, anyone who is seriously considering buying!

You can also do Jim and yourself a favor and buy his book (Volume I) - there are photos of 2 grey M2 Luftwaffe (serial 1005756 & 1005766).
