GSN vs. Canonet 28

I recently acquired a GSN, my first RF. I've only run one short roll of film through it so far. (Family snapshots and not all that great - I need practice!) I'll even admit to leaving the lens cap on for one shot. Real Newbie here!

Today I just handled a Canonet 28 without actually taking pictures. I really like the feel of it. I have small hands and the GSN is large, heavy, and actually feels rather awkward.

The Canonet is smaller, lighter, and really feels more comfortable in my hands. I was able to handle the lens more easily. I'm thinking of using it instead.

Maybe there'll be a GSN for sale!

doll,

try to find a nice olympus 35 rc, you wont be sorry.
it's small, very sharp lens, works without a battery and solid. they also can be used in full manual if you like.
i love them!

Thanks for the recommendation, Joe. I've not tried an Olympus. Greyhoundman likes the Canonet. We can share it for a while & I can keep my eyes open for a 35 rc. I really prefer a small, light one.

The Canonet QL17 G3 has the same body of the Canonet 28 but has an F1.7 lens, full manual over-ride, and an auto-parallax corrected finder. It is the same size and about the same weight of the Canonet 28. One annoying feature, the exposure meter turns off when in manual mode. Great for saving batteries, terrible for taking pictures.

Thank you for the tip. I have contacted the seller and am waiting for an answer.

More suggestions:
the gsn is indeed big. I would advise it however against the somewhat too humble canonet 28.
If you really need smaller than the gsn, there are options - as said above, the canonet 17; also yashica has the cc and the gx models (aperture priority only but not a real limitation) that are very good and in the canonet's size. Minolta 7sII is also small and great but more $$. Dunno about olympus myself.

Greyhoundman is going try the Canonet 28 for a while.

At least until he can find a QL17!
