Today I was eating breakfast at my favorite local coffee shop and I bumped into a fellow rangefinder fan. The first time we talked, he was curious about my Minolta Hi-Matic 9. Eventually, I found out that he had a QL-17 outfit that he had bought years ago among other things, and I mentioned that I had always wanted to try one.
Anyway, this morning this same person mentioned that he had spotted a QL-17 at our local town museum's thrift shop, and that he had thought of me when he saw it. That was nice enough, but he also said that it was black
Plus it also came with the Canonlite D, case and a lens shade all for $55!!!
So I finished breakfast a bit faster than usual and pedalled down to the town museum, and sure enough there it was, along with a few other goodies. I plunked down my money, plus $3 for a really nice vintage GE light meter and rushed home intending to take pictures of it to post here.
Of course, with all pleasure must come some balance; and, to that end, I have managed to misplace the cable and memory card for my digital camera
So no pics for now. Sorry.
But I can tell you that it is indeed a beauty that looks like it was hardly used. Plus it works
The lens shade that it came with is the factory one with the cutout for the viewfinder, and that came with its original case, too. The camera itself came with a case, but either Canon N. Ready cases are really terrible or someone covered it with shoe polish or something else that promtly came off onto my white shirt on the ride home.
To wrap things up, I will get right on tracking down my memory card and on getting new light seals into the QL-17 so that I can post some pics.
