Half an hour of power grinding and hand filing, and alot of fittings, and it's done. Teeny bit of flexing, but nothing objectionable at all. I think I will like the handling with the Rapidgrip, going to have to get used to it.

I like the Rapidgrip on M5. Especially with big lenses, like my fave 85mm F1.5 Canon. This is a combo that I use alot, and I think the Rapidgrip improves balance and handling, and access to controls. Seems to be very fast to operate, and intuitive finger placement. I like it.

I just finished a roll of Tri-X in M5 with the 35mm F2.8 Summaron. Like the way the whole thing handles. Very pleased so far.

Thank's for giving me the Rapidgrip-solution. Now I honestly don't have any real reason against the M5 as my first M...

I had a machine shop replace the original screw in the base of the Rapidgrip with one from the Leica Grip. I shoot a fair bit of film, and on the M5 the baseplace latch is one with the tripod socket- now the grip can now be removed without fumbling around for a coin. I got the Leica Grip screw as a part from Leica NJ.

Another hand-made grip for M5 🙂 As you know all existing grips have a problem, the lock of the bottom palte is blocked so to reload a film one has to remove the grip, keep it somewhere, then remove the plate, keep it some where, so he just has not enough hands to keep all these. And here is the solution, grip + plate all in one 🙂











The grip as attached to the plate by double-sided tape

I carry the M5 in my left hand with the A&A M5 strap in a bale sling hitch around my wrist. It is very comfortable and I can carry it all day like this. Now it's the M9 that really needs a grip but I just hate the idea of it.
