Happy birthday to me...going back to Myanmar

Happy birthday man, and what a way to spend it. 100% approved :) I'd say I'm jelous but I'll be doing the same next week :) Different country though.
Question - how is it traveling around Myanmar? Do you come across a lot of restrictions or do you travel freely? I know that visiting certain regions is prohibited or restricted. Do you feel it limits you somehow or you can do away exploring just what's "open"?

Thanks Raid.....I will post images once I get back to Bangkok and get everything developed...

Thanks for the cool message Phantomas.......yes, most of the border areas are off limits and you can only go to some places (regions) in this country...that said, there lots of places that you can go that tourists don't usually go to.......in Mandalay, you can rent a motorbike (scooter) for 10 USD a day and travel to some amazing places and have "freedom".......I am in Yangon now and it is impossible to rent a motorbike.....but it's ok, because you can still travel around outside the city and get to remote areas (local buses, trains, etc...).....if you want more info, send me a PM and I will reply when I am back in Bangkok.....

so this morning I arrived in Yangon and I was walking around the streets at 6:00 am and I reached into my bag to change lenses and the focusing tab on my 28mm elmarit broke into two pieces, one piece landed inside my bag and the other on the street........ironically, I "broke" the same lens 6 months earlier in the same neighborhood.......I used the lens a lot yesterday and didn't feel anything wrong with it......anyways, not a big deal......the lens still works....but it needs some love from Sherry K. at some point in the future......

tomorrow, I am taking a train ride out into the country side...I plan on shooting some photos on the train and getting out into the country side and see what I can find.....there is also an interesting monastery that I want to visit, so it should be good times.....

cheers, michael
