Happy Birthday to all. Any cool camera stuff for presents???

I'm considering going back to the camera repair shop that has quite normally done very well by me (they lost a couple technicians) to get my Leica M3 I dropped off there at the end of April- they still haven't fixed it, and I would like someone to do SOMETHING positive on it!

37. Only 1095 days 'till 40.

However late, not less sincere... Happy Birthday to jdos, Saya, Jimbus and Magnas! :D

jdos, send your "preciousssss" to Don Goldberg in DAG (Oregon, WI). He'll fix up that Leica so that you'll be using it when you turn, say, 74. In fact, I don't need to wish you luck if you send it to him! :D

Now, Saya, Jimbus and Magnas... confess, admit and tell: what was your self-gift? ;)

Do you have his web-site handy?

The boys at the shop promised that they'd call me when they got a timeslot. There were no questions asked and Jim was very easy to deal with- as always, they are really friends. I *almost* felt bad, but 5 months is long enough...

I know why the camera is misbehaving. There was a light meter on it, the standard M3 light meter, and the camera was dropped. I didn't notice the signs before I bought it from MPEX, but looking at it, they are obvious. Hope Don can fix THAT!

My gift to myself was Dinner at an Ethopian restaurant. And film- Kodak's answer to XP-2 and a roll of Fuji 1600 color.

Alright, JD, click on DIS HERE LINK to get to Don's website.

It would be better to call him to the phone he lists, which is 608-835-3342 (he opens shop at noon) to explain the problem to him, and also he'll know what to expect in the mail. You'll find that he's a very nice and understanding man: he never loses his cool and he's also very honest. Good news: he will take Paypal, and I'm sure he'll take credit card payments.

Not only that: he'll work as fast as he can on your beloved. I was surprised when he asked me how soon did I want to have my camera back! :)

Good luck... although I don't think you'll need it with Don. :D

Sorry for being late but happy b'day JD!

We had Leica 'rush' followed by Canon. So what's the tredn now? Any FSU camera heading your way JD?

I've got the Kiev loaded up in the car with Kodak high speed IR, and a 21mm on it, just in time for the weather to turn... Well, what's left of a hurricane is blowin' through. I should still have some interesting shots (oh! and owners of the Mamiya Universal/Press/23 65mm will be glad to know that the filters are 43mm, so your collection will fit the 21mm CV lens!)

Otherwise, no. I've got a Contax sitting there in NJ awaiting shipping, and a 1/2 broken Leica sitting here. I'm stuck with Kievs or MF for a while now. :)

Thanks!
