I've always said that I don't want to keep any cameras that I don't shoot. I shouldn't have redundant cameras. I don't want a bunch of shelf queens....
So why is it then that I'm having such a hard time giving up a few cameras that I really don't need?
I've got a R3A w/3 lenses. I really don't need my Fed2, my Zorki 5 or the three lenses that go with them. I should let it all go. I don't shoot them often. Last time I used one of them it was as a second body with a 15mm cv mounted.
Thing is, it took a lot of pain to put that FSU set together. I bought and sold problem copies and had the cameras I kept CLA'd. It's a nice set.
I guess I've become emotionally invested.

Same problem with 6x6 folders. I've got a Super Baldax and an Iskra. Both in great shape. Both good shooters. Mostly, I prefer the Baldax...but right now, holding the Iskra in my hand, it's hard to imagine letting go.

Ok, I'll be able to get rid of the Pentax 6x7. I was hot for getting it, but I haven't felt very warm using it.

I'd like to raise some money to go in to a low end large format kit. If I'm going to do that, some stuff has got to go.

But...but...not my Hexar AF! No, that I'll keep.

I'm either going to have to shoot some of this stuff more, sell it, or start thinking of myself as a "collector." 😱

I too have too much FSU kit and have thought about selling to rid myself of the 'guilt' of excess, to put resources where they're needed, but each time I try to make the move I hesitate, unsure. For now, I think it's safer for us to think of any unused gear as 'back-up', ready and willing to wait against the chance we might one day need the second team on deck.

Think about it, what if you have all your best stuff in a single bag one night and that bag falls off the green Ferry crossing the Sound or Channel or Big Muddy or whatever it is that you've got out there in Arizona that's wet, deep and ruin-some to delicate photography equipment. :bang: In that event, you'll praise aloud the day you let the eBay/Classifieds options pass unrealized as you dust-off these fine examples of Soviet industry and skip your way out the door to photograph nubile young whatevers to your heart's content and immense satisfaction.

Trust me, it'll happen sooner than you think, so, hang tough, quit smoking and work-out thrice weekly...

Cheers
