I'd grade myself as pretty tolerant when it comes to living with cameras, and somewhat tolerant regarding lenses. (I was not always so tolerant, but am now.) In fact I get somewhat intrigued (rather than put off) by the funky behavior of some stuff I own.

It is easy to observe (here on RFF and every other place) that some photographers are much more adaptable, tolerant, forgiving of their cameras and lenses than are others. Some people gush about the "character" of their old (imperfect) lenses, while others b#tch about how imperfect their new lenses are. Some people embrace "cultish" hardware readily, while others can't tolerate quirky behavior or equipment that "leaves its signature".

To each his own, I am sure. But, if I may ask . . . how would you classify yourself on this topic? Do you embrace the quirks or "character" traits of your hardware or do you dump it?

I define myself tolerant, very tolerant: I always try to get he best from the gear I have adapting my shooting style to it instead to look for something newer. It's now three years I live with my X1 (Leica) in spite of its limitation. Of course, being an amateur who started with all manual camera more than 50 years ago helps 🙂

I'll use whatever you put in my hands, and my only fussy bit is that the focus mechanism has to be spot-on, or at least consistently off so that I can compensate for it. Most of my equipment quickly becomes user-minus under my stewardship. . . But it focuses correctly.

I ignore all of these new fancy cameras and using bugs free old Canon 5d with thier top L lenses for digital.
For film I like older RF glass. I don't need macro resolution on film, I want character and old Summitar and Industar lenses are perfect for it.
