Has anyone used the Sony FE 16-35mm/4.0 Vario-Tessar OSS Lens?

Hi Keith,

I just switched over to the Sony A7 world from M4/3 (my main stills camera is my M240). I didn't research heavily beforehand on adapted lenses I just assumed they would work well due to the full frame and short flange distance.

As such I did buy two FE mount lenses, the 16-35mm and the 55mm. Along with the A7II and an A7s. The 16-35mm is in my opinion very impressive so far. I've only done basic tests to make sure it works as I've been receiving my new gear through the week. But from what I can tell it is really quite good (noticeably better than my old Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L II, and I really liked that lens a lot!)

Apparently the weakest point of the lens is the 35mm end, but it seems perfectly usable for actual photography, rather than test charts.

So far I do not regret the purchase of the 16-35, but do note, it is quite a large lens for this camera. I have the vertical battery grip coming in for both cameras to aid in balance with these larger optics.
