Has Cameraleather.com vaporized?

Yeah-we're lucky to have him, since nobody else in the Western world offers the same service/ products. I'm waiting on a natural lizard skin for my black Yashica GX. Right now, it sits nekked on my workbench.

However, there are some hazards to displaying a one of Morgan's skins in public. This is a no BS story. I was in the CBD of Seoul Saturday w/ my mauve snakeskin OLY SP when I heard some music a few blocks away. I checked it out and saw a small "Gay Pride" (or whatever they call it now) parade. I shot a whole roll of Superia 100 on the parade. Sadly, I got no offers and nobody offered me hundreds of $$ for the chic camera. hahaha.

The saddest thing was the number of really fine, young Korean ladies in the parade--hopefully they are not practicers, but just sympathizers.

At last, I just received an email message from Morgan and all is well. He is a good man, we are lucky to have him, amd I am just glad he got back to me. And...Happy Birthday Mr. Merckx.

Bill, you just saved me from $pending on the mauve skin for one of my stock SPs. :D

Mauve? Really? Have we seen a shot of that?

Just because you heard from him doesn't mean you'll receive your product within the next week. As I've said before, some of my orders have required multiple e-mails, including some to remind him what I ordered.

Love the materials, but am not at all impressed with his service. He should put some of his profits into customer care.

I've only ordered something from him once. It took almost three months, and he did not answer any emails (I only sent a couple inquiries).

I now buy from Aki Asahi in Japan. He does not have quite the selection of covers but his product is first class in quality and he runs a professional business. The turnaround time from Japan to the US (I'm in NM) has always been less than two weeks and shipping cost is very reasonable.

I am not in any way associated with him, just a very satisfied customer.

Cameraleather is still alive, if the OP is still wondering. I ordered ared leather skin for my RD-1 a couple of months ago, I received it and applied it on my camera. However, the leather was peeling of at the sides, and overall, I wasn;t satisfied mainly because the leather was too thin and the bumps and ridges of the camera bulged. I emailed morgan, and he asked for pictures. I was late in replying, but when I did, along with the pictures, he offered to replace the kit with griptac. Actually even before I sent pictures, he offered to replace it. What service. I just received an email from him again, saying that he already sent my new kit. Kudos to cameraleather. I will surely purchase from them again. I am extremely satisfied with their customer service.

Well, I'm still waiting for a new red leather for my Oly RD since mid-June. I sent him a remainder with copies of my PayPal payment recently but still haven't heard of him. I'll wait a couple of weeks more but then I don't know what else I can do. Report to PayPal perhaps?

I have ordered coverings for over 5 camera bodies during the last 5 years. I have always put the coverings on myself. Still, while 3 of the kits arrived in a timely fashion, 2 did not. It took just over 4 months for one of the kits to arrive. The plot line thickened as no less than 3 different replacement kits were sent and then, when I opened the third-time-lucky kit, it wasn't the covering I had ordered. Woe baby, I was hard up for that covering! But it did arrive after that. This being said, the Cameraleather products are superb and Morgan is a good man. I will order from him again....Yet I do wonder about how he organizes his work-related stuff ;P

That happened to me. Ordered two kits of leather around late January, didn't hear from him until late April.

Obviously there is something else that most of his time
is devoted to since every other customer is still waiting.
It seems w/all the attention he gets on this site that
customer service is not something that he has decided
to put at the top of his list of priorities. When an order
is placed w/them the buyer should be aware that it may
take considerable time to get his or her order,so therefore after reading this thread if you are in a hurry and you don't get your order on a timely basis you have only your self to blame.

from camera leather's website ...

July 24, 2009 Our building in downtown Burlington VT was struck by lightning last week. Although we expect to restore all data, it is going to take some time, as two drives have been sent out for imaging. If you have not received a reply to your mail in the last week please re-send it. As part of the restoration we also found a huge cache of SPAM that included legitimate mail. Please re-send anything that has not been answered. It's a sad fact that I spend more time corresponding than producing, and it may take several days to reply.

He took like a month to ship me my stuff and was slow with email responses, but I was buying the covering for a camera I didn't use much so it didn't bother me a lot. When it arrived, it was worth the wait.

Bought mine in June, he upgraded me n/c as he was out of stock. Good guy just trying to keep prices low with lots of orders.

Ordered a Griptac set for my Nikon F3, Ordered Monday it arrived Thursday.
Good service, even better when you consider that I am in Ireland.
Handwritten thank you note in the package.
Very happy couldnt be happier in fact.

I've had very expeditious service from Morgan. I placed 2 separate orders about a week apart for my M2s and MPs. Both orders took about a week to arrive after ordering from the internet. In fact, I erroneously paid for the cheaper SLR covering but Morgan sent the coverings anyway!

M3 like cover for M6

M3 like cover for M6

All this talk about cameraleather, makes me wanna change rhe skin on my M6 to something similar to my M3. What is the nearest I can get the original, sticky, goodlooking vulcanite? I've heard lots of praises for the GripTac, but to me it looks much coarse compared to the original stuff...
