Hasselblad 40mm Distagon

They both have their advantages. The SWC is easier to hold up to eye level; and in theory is sharper. And it is light and easy to carry. But the 40CF is still good enough that they use it on the IMAX cameras, as well as the 50 and others. There is one IMAX film about the Mississippi river boats in which some shots were even done with the 30mm Fisheye! I think if I could only keep one, I would keep the 40. With it, I can compose to a certain aspect ratio, by marking my area lines on the groundglass. Yet the SWC is very easy to shoot with. So . . . .

Here's My 40mm Distagon.

Here's My 40mm Distagon.

I got mine for a good price, it had been dropped (it was a military surplus place) so they sent it to John Van Stelton, who replaced some -very- expensive parts on it. The surplus dealer basically sold it to me at his cost, I spoke to John and he remembered repairing the lens.

The shutter was still sticky, so I sent it to David Odess. It's all good, now.
Still got a good deal, just took a bit of work to pull it all together.

I have the original solid Hasselblad 40 Shade (pictured) as well as 104mm filters in Yellow-Green, UV, Orange, and Yellow. I have also discovered that Sinar Norma 103mm Solid-Glass Filters can be used as well, with a bit of adaption. I took a nasty-looking 104mm Hasselblad UV filter, broke the glass out of it, and the Sinar Filters fit into that (now) Glassless Filter Ring. Breaking the glass out of the filter was FUN. Actually I use the Dark Red Sinar filter with this lens quite a bit. Oh, I also have a B&W 104mm Polarizer for this lens.🙄🙄

30mm & 40mm Zeiss Distagons.

30mm & 40mm Zeiss Distagons.

Here is a combo I need to get out with more often. 😉😉

The 30mm Hasselblad Fisheye Distagon (on the right) and the 40mm Distagon on the left.

Both EL/M's have Meter Prisms, and 70mm A70 Backs attached. One is loaded with Kodak Plus-X Aero 2402, and the other is loaded with Agfa Aviphot Pan 200.
