Kidney-less Zombies walk around with 2 Hasselbald Cameras!

Today's day rate here at RFF seems to be the dollar value of a new 50MP Blad 907X. LOL.

Cal

This does not leave any room for buying two cameras!

Isn't the 907X just...a repackaged X1D with the viewfinder removed? I must be dumb but really can't see it doing anything the X1D couldn't.

Except that you can now hold it in the uncomfortable way.

Touch screen???

Cal

X1D v1 is already a touch screen. Wonderfully implemented.

Not bad. I'd still enjoy unwrapping a fresh roll of 120 film rather than shoot digital. But that's just me.

Well the X1D v1 easily equals 810 color film, something I don't say lightly having shot 810 for twenty five years (I'm not alone in this opinion). I've left most analog MF and all LF behind. The X1D fits in a A&A ACAM 7100 bag with a Leica. Zero contest, unless one needs to use some expired or soon to be discontinued film...

It seems more like the ALPA system - a means of connecting a lens and a sensor or film back. I would assume that the 907X will allow for future backs to be used with the same body and range of lenses.

What can this lump do that my Lomo LC-A 120 can’t?

Uh, focus for starters.

Use dozens or hundreds of lenses?

Excuse my ignorance, but who's the target customer for this? No professional photographer working for an Ad company and needs 50Mpix would use old manual lenses ... and no rich enthusiast/amateur would schlep such a heavy camera to a cocktail party or on vacation. To me, this is pure nostalgia with no market.

Good point. I am certainly not interested in the 907.

I tend to agree but in case you hadn't noticed nostalgia sells very well these days. 😛

I have to admit that if I had that sort of money laying around I would love to put that on my beaten up old Hassy that hasn't seen any action for a long, long time! This thing is the drug that a lot of old V system owners will be selling their kids for. 😀

It's worked okay for sales of:

Harley Davidson
Ford Mustang
Dodge Challenger
Chevrolet Camaro
Fiat 500
Mini
Sellers of mechanical watches, fountain pens, phonographs
Leica M
Fujifilm X-system

The future's become too dystopian.

I have to admit that if I had $10k to spend on a digital camera with a standard lens, I'd prefer the X1D II over a Leica M10 or SL. The design is simply gorgeous and they addressed most of the shortcoming of the X1D (e.g., being sloooooooow).
