Hasselblad in The Deep South

Use the depth of field scale with the aperture and that is enough for 90% of the images you will take. But when wanting to have in and out of focus areas, get a rough idea from looking down and focusing, then apply the aperture onto the lens scale.......easy, I have been doing it with my Hasselblads for forty years. I HAVE NEVER TAKEN AN OUT OF FOCUS AREA IMAGE THAT I DID NOT WANT THAT WAY.

Hence... think about your images and their design as if they were to be CD or (in our case I'm sure you'll understand) vynil LP sleeve cover photographs! :)

Thanks, I will return to the land of Hog Killin' this Thursday with the Hassy. I hope to actually find some folks in town. Seems the Antique store is only open on Wednesday and Thursday and I don't know about the museum. Maybe I can call ahead.

We will be in search of the old grist mill my grandfather owned and used in the 1930s and 40s. I found the 500 ac property that is now owned by the family of their doctor (Dr. Woodall, deceased). I hope to get permission to visit the ruins of the mill and bring back some images for the family album.

We shall see. That part of the country is really out there!:eek:

In fact, I will try that right now... I love this.
 
Dave, does your folding waist-level-viewfinder have the flip-out magnifying lens? I find that a real help in determining precise focus with my 503.

It does... My screen works fine but it is foggy. There is dust and dirt and the fresnel lines (correct term?) appear almost black and coarse so the image would pop into focus much better without all that going on in the screen. In bright sunlight, it works ok but, it is distracting/aggravating.

The screen that came with camera might as well have been a clear piece of glass... It was BRIGHT, but nothing changed. So I retired that when I got the current screen.

Such is the joy of buying older gear. LOL. Otherwise it is in great condition:)

Our old post office was built in many places, one down near you sold a few years back, it had been converted into a house. This one was converted into a movie theater, now its a private recording studio for a famous musician.

Ah, yes, I looked it up online.., that is a beautiful building. As a graduate architect in my 20s, I fell in love with the old buildings like Post Offices, Coca-Cola offices, and such. Old schools, too. The new ones look just like prisons.:eek:

The current architecture generally sucks but as a Town and City Planner for decades, I found it extremely difficult to effect change. But we did a few times.

Somehow, I fell out of love with architecture as it became a production line with unscrupulous developers. I still have fond memories though and I hope to present examples on this thread with the Hassy.

Yeah, I am really looking forward to some more images soon, Raid. I will never forget Joe Patti's. The beach, well, exquisite. You have much in the way of beautiful scenery to work with! Can't wait...
