My 500 c/m froze mid shot the other day. The blades are closed, the flaps at the back are still open, it won't wind on and the lens won't come off.

Is this anything that I can fix easily myself, or do I need specialist help?

Thanks.

Hassy's are notorious for this, and I've had it happen in several ways. A long handled screwdriver should get your lens off (approach it from the back). There's a LOT of info on the various ways a Hassey may, and probably will, lock up. Just part of the deal w/ these cameras.

I keep seeing a special tool for sale on that site-that-shall-not-be-named that fixes this. It's a long t-handled socket designed to reset the lens.
