I was looking at this travel website and noticed that they had a picture of a Hasselblad SW about on the "Welcome to Jetsetter" callout. That is a very specific camera to be up there, so I imagine some designer somewhere has a love for them! You don't generally see them or even hear them mentioned outside of people "in the know".

Even more specific that you might think : it's a special NASA version of the SWC

edit: found the link to where they stole the picture from http://www.hasselbladusa.com/about-hasselblad/hasselblad-in-space/space-cameras.aspx

"Hasselblad SWC
With a Biogon 38mm lens, made its space debut on 3 June 1966, on a voyage in Gemini 9. The camera was largely standard: Only the lining had been removed and the viewfinder was specially designed. The camera was used on four voyages in 1966."

Interesting but why did NASA bother removing the leatherette?
It may have saved them a few grams at best. It just seems so insignificant considering the other gear they were taking with them.

Anyway... Some good history there. I guess now they're using off the shelf point and shoots.

I bet it was more a case of "We should have a camera here - fire up Google image search. Hey, that looks cool! Grab it!"
