Hasselblad SWC is cool

I may look for such finders at reasonable prices.
Thanks for the tip on the Lee filter pouch. I found one listed for $12 shipped.

I got my Lee pouch from Adorama, same price.

The chimney magnifying finder I bought from KEH in UGLY condition for $26 shipped. Nice clean ones run $75-140.

Now that's a good price for the chimney finder.
I will look around. There is no hurry at all.

Tha 45 degree prism finder showed up yesterday. My SWC kit is complete. Now I'll begin to put my ideas for using it in motion. :)

What a great way to start a new year!

I thought about the SWC, it does look cool.
I have 2 6x6's already, so somewhere in my mind, I felt like I would be crossing some type
of redundancy threshold. I also thought about the Mamiya 7 with the 43mm. Nice lens. But I already have a Mamiya 6.
Again, some type of redundancy warning went off in my mind. GAS is OK, but I rationalize it, by following the code.
If a camera acquisition is unique to what I currently have, then go for it, otherwise pass.

Then somewhere I started to read about Cambo's, Silvestri's and Horseman SW612.

I like the 1:2 ratio, and the negative was larger than the 6x9, I liked it. So I went for a Horseman SW612, I went for a 55mm Rodenstock Grandagon APO. I might try to get a 65mm or a 75mm, but that is something the Horseman affords that the SWC doesn't.
Interchangeable lenses.

I like this camera

sw612 is cool but it's nearly impossible to handhold.
I like my SWC the way it is. I can shoot it in any light condition w/o tripod as long as i can see via my finder.

sw612: Yes, it's a totally different kind of camera. Very nice, not the same thing at all.

I'm eager to get started on some ideas with the SWC now. Probably next weekend at earliest though. Just too much to do between now and then. But, as a giggle, I pulled up one of my old favorites from the 903SWC which I made in 2002 on the Isle of Man ...

Gawsh, I love these cameras and the way they see. :)

enjoy, and Happy New Year!

I once thought of buying a 6x12 camera, but I decided against it due to the size. The SWC is small in comparison.

How will you use these two finders? Are they really needed?
Isn't the dof sufficient for photography with hyperfocal settings?

Congrats on getting all parts.

Using one of these viewfinders is handy when it is critical to keep the camera square to the subject - mainly for architectural work. It means using a tripod of course.

This thread inspired me to take my 903 SWC along on a recent trip to Lisbon. While there I decided to load it with Delta 3200 and do some night shots. I shot one roll on a dark street where a trolly runs. Here are 4 shots. The two darkest shots were hand held wide open at 1/8th sec the other two at 1/15th sec., at 1600 developed in DD-X.

Raid, I've taken Delta 3200 in both 135 and 120 on many trips and rarely ask for hand inspection, the few times I've ever asked they wouldn't do it. Some of the trips they only go through carry on x-ray 4 times, others they have gone through 12 times and never any problems. I've shot Delta 3200 at 1600 and 3200 and I don't see much difference but usually stick to 1600. I've also just taken HP5 and pushed it being mindful to mark the rolls for what I shot it at.

Brunocstreet, thank you. Lisbon is a great place for street shooting, we would like to go back again. I only shot one roll of Delta 3200 and these were the best of the roll, night shooting hand held at a 1/15th and 1/8th of a second is always an experiment.

Yes, Lisbon is a fantastic city for photography (although I found it a bit to messy and dirty compared to other cities in Europe..)

Now I just need an SWC!
