How many of you think we will never see another company release a serious new film camera?
If you vote no, who will release it?

I can't think of a single feature that could be added to a new film camera that doesn't already exist. We're awash with film cameras already.

Which camera company has the most serious film cameras in production now?

I do think the Bessa is due for a redesign, if they're going to keep on moving new 35mm cameras.

I guess they could put a 12mm bright line in an R5A. Can't figure out what else they would do.

As a guy who owns a Bessa and 5 CV lenses, I'd be tickled pink to see a new release from that corner.

Bill, what features would you like to see on a new Bessa?

Ratcheted rewind would certainly be welcome. 1/4000?
I was thinking more along the lines of a cosmetic and build quality update, though the current Bessas are very nice in both categories.

Large format cameras, roll-film r/f, roll-film in general, panoramic cameras, 35mm cameras etc etc. all still made. Possibly the OP didn't mean evolutionary developments in new models, but revolutionary ones ? That might be less likely I suppose, but who can tell.

The only think I can thing of is adjustable diopter for the finder (for us eyeglass wearers to tweak the finder). The build quality is fine with me. Otherwise, you are going to pay Leica prices.

I marked no, but I should have said, "I don't care." I don't think I'll ever buy another NEW film camera. As Dan noted, there are a lot of good ones out there.
I can't think of any 'new' development that would change my mind. I made that "new & better" mistake too many times with Nikon. That's what pushed me back to Olympus SLRs and RF in general. Just my 2 cents.

Martin:
I mean the release of a new camera, not tweaks to an existing model. E.g., an M10 that uses film.
Pickett:
A diopter would be nice. Rewinding my Bessa takes more force than I like, so redoing that would be welcome.
Those kind of changes don't, or shouldn't, require release of a new camera. If they want to release a new model, then perhaps they might offer a new combination of framelines, increase the baseline, make the VF and the patch larger, offer matrix and/or spot metering, etc. I'm not advocating that, to be clear.

I'd like to see Voigtlander Bessa going towards a medium format rangefinder system.

I'd definitely be interested in a new type of film camera that offered a digital option, then I wont have to always worry which one to take, and I run out of film, I could just switch to digital. The old model with the digital back is too tired. A small integrated model that takes 35mm film and could deliver 12 MP digital would be awsome. Am I just dreaming?

That already exists.

I'd like to see Voigtlander Bessa going towards a medium format rangefinder system.
Me too. A 6x9 style camera like the Fuji 690 original would be great. Double stroke, interchangeable lenses with built-in shutter, built-in meter. Parallax corrected brightline frames.
I'm not interested in a 6x6, 6x7 or 6x8. I need the 2:3 aspect ratio to be happy
So, I voted no, to word my confidence in Voigtländer building me one

I think we will see more serious film cameras, although I think the majority of them from here on out will be Medium format. As far as 35mm goes, Voigtlander and Leica will probably keep making new models, and even though I don't consider it likely, a Nikon F7 wouldn't really surprise me.

what features would you like to see on a new Bessa?
