Have you ever wanted something really badly then been disappointed when you got it?

TMAX100 until I developed it in Caffenol-C-H

Nikon D60, nice, small, DSLR, until I found out I didn't want a small (and lower spec'ed) DSLR. The main reason I want a DSLR is for sports and children in action. And its inability to AF with non AF-S lenses.

A couple of camera bags

Every digital P&S I have had

Panasonic GF1. My first entry to the digtal world, my first auto focus, auto everything camera. Takes nice photos, easy enough to use in auto mode. But after a few weeks it all seemed such a yawn. Happily reunited with my M6ttl and bag of lenses. The wife loves the GF1, she is welcome to it. Glad I bought the GF1 though; the desire to get an M9 has dissipated big time.

It's not even close.

I know. 🙁 The OM2n/28mm 2.8 combo a friend shoots with is what I really want. I just can't justify buying it even I'm being totally irrational. I'm trying to convince myself that it would be the equivalent of a rangefinder and that I wouldn't be tempted to pick up any other lenses. I just don't trust myself yet.

Canon 5D MKII. Anticipated it one and a half year. When I holded it in my hands all the menues told me that it is not what I wanted.

It is time for you to get some Adox CMS 20 with Adotech developer.

Good question: my silver Summilux ASPH 35mm.

Why? I thought I was going to shoot at all times wide open. 🙂 Turns out I didn't; light was always too strong or too intense or too bright whenever I traveled... But I got used to it. I won't part with it either! 🙂

Dang, I knew I should have taken your gear and rationalization threads more seriously!

I really wanted a 50mm summicron, but I was dissapointed by the flare under certain conditions. Could have been the sample, or my unrealistic expectations.

I'm going to blaspheme here, but :

21 f/3.4 Super Angulon.
Too wide and too slow. Amazing for black and white, not so hot for color.

Replaced it with a 24/2.8 and I have no complaints.

Maybe the 4x5 camera sitting on my shelf. I swore I would be doing Architectural photography and yet, there it sits.

Usually in a bar towards closing time. I've always regretted the next day and who I went home with...

😀

SOOKY-M

Really wanted some closer focus, but it's just too cumbersome for frequent use (and it makes it nearly impossible to adjust the aperture). Still have it, still use it occasionally, but it wasn't what I expected/hoped.

My first ever girlfriend ... she was a lovely girl and I'm sure she made someone very happy.
Olympus XA too small for my xxl hands
Most SLR cameras ... Every 28mm lens i have ever tried and most zooms too.

Shocker: the Konica L-Hexanon 50/2.4 I sold recently.

Wanted it for two years, but they always were too expensive.

I liked the results (Ted and Roland both told and showed that this Planar type LTM lens is the sharpest I have ever seen), but I simply could not get over how big it still was when collapsed. Also, the lens mount is the same diameter as an M mount, but not an LTM mount. The LTM mount is narrower, so the lens always was sticking out sideways from the mount.

All in all, it looked out of place on an LTM camera and even collapsed on an M body the set wasn't pocketable.

In the end I decided the stopped down shots of my CZJ Sonnar 50/1.5 were as sharp as I needed and I sold the lens.

Something truly pocketable will be acquired soon to live on my LTM cameras (where it truly belongs) and on my M3.

Yashica Electro 35 - arrived non-working and was relatively expensive to fix. Once done, the rangefinder patch was ok in daylight but useless in lowlight conditions, which is what I wanted the F1.7 lens for. Even with this, it's taken me some time to getting round to putting it on ebay.
Ricoh 500G - a nice enough camera, but was just nothing special.
Grip for a Canon 40D - bought on a whim and lack of 'need' showed in the end.

Lately, my biggest disappointment has been Nokia.

The old ones were rock solid from a software point of view. The last great one was the first 7610. Great phone. Then, I bought an E50, and now N85.

Both of these phones are too buggy.... I hate to say it (and even though I use OS X, I am not an Apple fan) I may use an iPhone some day.

Now wonder Nokia is in a crisis.

I had bad luck with 2 Zorkis and their Jupiter-8s, and there's nowhere nearby to get them CLA'd/fixed/shimmed/etc. No more FSU rangefinders for me! I know a lot of people here like them a lot, but I'm not one of them. I do regret selling the good Jupiter-8 along with its hood and filters, but I wasn't using it enough to justify the shelf space and at least another RFF'er got a great deal.

Regards,
Rob

Definitely 5d mark II and D-lux 4. That pocket cam costs $900 when i bought it but has a $400 pocket cam's features. Not good.

Apple has teached Nokia bosses few lessons about smart phones, their Internet integration and usability aspects. few years before iPhone, Nokia was raving about their "mobile Java games". what a crap those were already then, even in marketing materials! 😱
